Sustainable Healthcare: Caring for People and Planet Conference
Research Nurse Érin Collins attended and listened to many real and potential healthcare impacts at the ‘Sustainable Healthcare: Caring for People and Planet’ Conference hosted by Queen’s University Belfast.
There were many excellent talks from the various speakers and one of the key messages was that planetary impacts are severe and rising, but not inevitable.
Topics presented on the day were very well explained such as managing and reduce our healthcare carbon footprint, the SHIELD project – addressing heat in long term care and domiciliary services and the benefit of social prescribing.
Attendees heard too about preparing the future workforce in providing sustainable healthcare, the importance of a person-centred approach, medicines sustainability and greener medicines.
The Connswater Community Greenway project was explained highlighting the importance of more healthy and resilient places in our communities.
